When you’re sitting in the pub with your mates, picking your favourites of the Premier League, the one position that has to be the hardest to choose a winner for is the right-back. It is not in any way as easy as left-back, with Ashley Cole usually taking that spot, and Leighton Baines coming through [...]

Ok, so Landry was talking about the ‘other’ type of football, however the sentiment remains true for ‘real’ football.  One of the most beautiful things about the beautiful game is the potential for a freak, unexpected result.  An incredible, unbelievable result. There’s nothing that neutral football fans enjoy more than seeing an underdog grabbing a [...]

Both West Brom and Southampton possess teams that are full of underrated or unheralded players. I have identified both as teams with criminally underrated players in the central midfield areas: Yacob and Mulumbu for West Brom; Cork and defensive stalwart Morgan Schneiderlin for Southampton. Within football circles all four players have impressed and we could well [...]

Preview

After the soap opera surrounding Peter Odemwingie’s future, Albion will be glad to get back to playing football. They could also do with a decent result after a poor run. Steve Clarke’s side have won two out of their past 13 fixtures in all competitions and picked up one point from a possible 15. Tottenham, in contrast, are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches, although The Hawthorns has unhappy memories for André Villas-Boas, who lost his job as Chelsea manager after a 1-0 defeat here last year.

STAT-ATTACK

Head-to-head

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last six games against West Brom, but three of the last five meetings have ended in
draws.

Spurs won 3-1 away to the Baggies last season, but that is their only victory in their last six trips to The Hawthorns in all competitions.

West Bromwich Albion

The Baggies are winless in five league games, losing four of those matches.

Despite a recent dip in form, they have claimed 23 Premier League points at home. Prior to this weekend, only the two Manchester clubs had a better record.

Steve Clarke’s side recorded four clean sheets in their opening 10 league games, but have managed only one shut-out in the subsequent 14 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs are unbeaten in eight league matches, but have drawn four of those games – including the last three.

The last time they drew four successive Premier League matches was in April 2008, when Juande Ramos was manager.

Gareth Bale has scored 10 goals in a Premier League season for the first time. Eight of those goals have come away from home.

Tottenham have committed fewer fouls (240) than any other Premier League side this season.

Tottenham head to the Hawthorns on Sunday looking to increase their unbeaten Premier League run to 9 games against a West Brom team that have only taken 1 point from their last 5 games. Spurs will be in for a difficult game as West Brom have taken 23 points from a possible 36  at The [...]

Never a straight-forward undertaking at the best of times and after the heroic Rodgering of Brendan’s Liverpool last Saturday, you’d guess the Baggies won’t just be in foggy London town for an afternoon of sight-seeing this time around.
