Check in to Arsenal vs Manchester City

Arsenal have entered the £10million race to sign French international forward Loic Remy from Ligue 1 Marseille, despite the striker hinting that he would stay in France.

Newcastle have been trying to do a deal to sign Remy as a replacement for Chelsea new boy Demba Ba, but have faced stiff competition from QPR and German Bundesliga side Schalke for the hit-man, who was told he could leave Marseille in the transfer window.

Remy had said earlier this week that he planned to stay and fight for his place at Marseille, but interest from Arsenal could spark a u-turn given the chance to link up with countryman Arsene Wenger at The Emirates.

Arsenal were in talks with Barcelona over a potential deal to sign David Villa only to be told the Spanish international striker is going nowhere in January. They have also been linked with a move for Fernando Llorente, who is also on Tottenham’s radar, from Atletico Madrid.

Alvaro Negredo could yet be a new addition at Arsenal with Sevilla keen to sell the £12million man to ease the financial burden on the club.
