Keane QPRNo Premier League return for former Tottenham striker.

Robbie Keane has turned down the chance to return to the Premier League on loan after being offered the chance to help save strugglers QPR from the drop.

Former Tottenham striker Keane is currently out of action following the completion of a long MLS season in which he helped Los Angeles Galaxy lift the title. And the 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international was wanted by QPR manager Harry Redknapp, who was his boss at Tottenham, to join on loan for a short period and get the club out of the relegation zone.

But, after signing a new two-year deal to finish his career with LA Galaxy, Keane wants to rest after the exertions of the title-winning MLS season rather than return to the Premier League for a month-and-a-half loan spell.

“It’s been a long season, with the Euros and what have you,” Keane, who represented the Republic of Ireland in Euro 2012, told the Sun on Sunday. “I’ve a few little niggles that need to be sorted out so I don’t think it would be right to go anywhere.”

QPR have now turned their attentions to signing Marseille forward Loic Remy, who is said to prefer a move to London and Loftus Road ahead of a possible transfer to Newcastle.

Tottenham sell goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini to Los Angeles Galaxy

• Fresh start for 39-year-old with David Beckham’s former club
• Cudicini had dropped to fourth choice keeper at Tottenham

Carlo Cudicini is heading for a fresh start in the United States after Tottenham reached an agreement to sell the goalkeeper to LA Galaxy.

The 39-year-old moved to White Hart Lane in 2009 but has found his opportunities limited due to the presence of Heurelho Gomes, Brad Friedel and Hugo Lloris.

“We have reached agreement for the transfer of Carlo Cudicini to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy,” Tottenham said in a statement. “Carlo joined us from Chelsea in January 2009 and went on to make 37 appearances. We wish Carlo all the best for the future.”

Cudicini began his career with Milan in 1992 and had a brief spell at Lazio before being plucked from obscurity in 2000 by Chelsea, who signed him from the Italian minnows Castel di Sangro.

It was at Stamford Bridge where he excelled after ousting Mark Bosnich and Ed de Goey as Chelsea’s No1 goalkeeper. He was part of the squads who claimed domestic honours under José Mourinho although he found himself increasingly marginalised after the arrival of Petr Cech in 2004.

After making 142 appearances for Chelsea in nine years, Cudicini made the switch to Tottenham but he once more struggled to claim a regular starting berth.

He will link up with former Tottenham team-mate Robbie Keane at Galaxy, who triumphed in the MLS Cup with a 3-1 win over Houston Dynamo in David Beckham’s last match.
