Tottenham are preparing to sell a number of their squad this summer as they look to regroup after missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League according to The Mirror.

The White Hart Lane side were left heart-broken after once more finding themselves denied access to Europe’s elite club competition on the last day of the season.

But Spurs boss Andre Vilas-Boas is ready to put that right next time out and is ready to pursue an aggressive transfer policy over the coming months.

First out of the door is likely to be Manu Adebayor who has been in disappointing form for most of the season and managed a paltry tally of just five Premier League goals. Joining him is likely to be Clint Dempsey who has failed to replicate his form for Fulham at White Hart Lane.

They are likely to be replaced by one or more from Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, Barcelona striker David Villa, Zenit St Petersburg’s Hulk or Lisandro Lopez from Lyon.

Jermain Defore is reportedly likely to have to accept a place on the bench after his manager became increasingly frustrated with his inability to hit the back of the net following the turn of the year.

Defoe still managed a respectable eleven goals but may find his role reduced to that of impact sub.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that there is no chance of star man Gareth Bale leaving the club despite missing out on the Champions League and has insisted that the club’s future plans won’t be affected by missing out on qualifying for the competition, talkSPORT reports.

Spurs narrowly missed out on qualifying for Europe’s most elite club competition on the final day despite beating Sunderland 1-0 as Arsenal managed to pip them to the post by claiming their own single goal victory over Newcastle United.

And the Former Chelsea manager has insisted that the club’s ambitions will not be damaged by failing to qualify for the tournament and has highlighted the fact that this season has seen Spurs pick up more points in the Premier League than ever before.

“It’s disappointing and we can’t hide from that. We had expectations to go through but what we can learn is 72 points next time round might not be enough,” he said.

When asked about the future of Gareth Bale he said: ”I have told you this a hundred times and I have to say once again [he won't go]. This has been an ongoing question. We have to keep our ambitions high, hold on to our best players.

“For us to make it better in the future we have to hold on to the best.”

Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has admitted that he would like to extend his contract with the club to stay in north London for the foreseeable future, Sky Sports reports.

The 29-year-old almost left the club last summer after Andre Villas-Boas was set to let the defender leave, accepting a £9 million bid from cross city rivals QPR, however, Dawson turned the move down and instead set about reestablishing himself in the Spurs side and enjoying a fine season.

Spurs narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification this season but the England international captained the side for most of his 33 appearances this term following the retirement of Ledley King and he has admitted that he would like to stay at the club beyond the end of his current deal.

“I’ve got two years left and I’d love to extend that,” Dawson said.

“Hopefully if the manager and the chairman want me for that long, it would be great.”

“I never gave leaving Spurs a thought last summer, having been here for eight years.”

Dawson joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2005 and has gone on to make over 250 appearances for the club during his time there.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keeping an eye of Tottenham’s Danny Rose according to The Daily Mail.

The England Under 21 star has been spent the last season out on loan with Sunderland where he has put in a number of highly impressive performances.

Rose Liverpool

Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio is keen to hold onto Rose but it is thought that the club would be unable to afford the asking price Tottenham would be looking for.

That could pave the way for Rose to move to Liverpool. Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to strengthen his squad over the coming months but knows he is somewhat hampered by budgetary constraints.

Despite having previously stated that he hopes to bring in around three or four players this summer, Liverpool officials have informed Rodgers he will have just £20 million to spend over the coming months.

The former Swansea boss is struggling to make that stretch and may well decide to cash in on the likes of Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique and Pepe Reina.

Should Rose arrive at Anfield, that could well put the brakes on any move for Blackpool starlet Tom Ince, who was strongly linked with the club during the January transfer window.

Tottenham are ready to make another move for Porto’s Joao Moutinho according to The Sun.

The White Hart Lane club are already preparing for next season, fresh from yesterday’s heart break.

Tottenham ended up losing out in the race for a Champions League spot as while they managed to beat Sunderland, Arsenal’s one nil victory over Newcastle was enough to provide the Gunners with a one point cushion over their North London rivals.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is determined not to dwell on the outcome and is looking to make a statement of intent by bringing in some high profile signings early on in the summer transfer window.

Part of the Tottenham boss’ thinking is that by doing so, he can show Gareth Bale the club’s ambitions in the hopes of persuading the player to stay.

That will see the club make a £30 million move for Moutinho, the player they unsuccessfully tried to sign last summer.

Moutinho is seen as the perfect player to provide some creative spark in the middle of the Tottenham midfield.

Big spending Monaco are also thought to be waiting in the wings and will make their move should talks between Spurs and Porto break down.

Tottenham are facing an up hill battle to keep hold of Gareth Bale according to The Daily Mail.

The Welsh international has played a key role in Andre Villas-Boas’ side this season as his goals placed Spurs within touching distance of a Champions League qualification spot.

Tottenham have offered Bale a new contract reported to be worth in the region of £150,000 a week but it is thought the winger was only willing to consider putting pen to paper should Spurs find themselves playing in Europe’s elite club competition next season, however Arsenal’s victory over Newcastle United sees Andre Villas-Boas having to settle for Europa League football.

There are likely to be no shortage of suitors for Bale should he become available despite the £60 million asking price Tottenham have slapped on the player.

Real Madrid have made no secret of their desire to bring Bale to the Spanish capital and that interest is likely to be maintained regardless of whether Jose Mourinho remains in charge of the Spanish giants for next season.

Manchester United are also thought to be keen on Bale and new boss David Moyes could look to make Bale one of his top summer targets.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a bid for RNK Split starlet Ante Rebic, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports in Croatia suggest that the North London club have tabled a bid of £5 million for the highly rated 19-year-old and are hoping to beat Italian side Parma to his signature as they look set to make him one of their top summer transfer priorities.

Rebic plays primarily as a centre forward, but is comfortable anywhere across the front line and has attracted the interest of a number of clubs after bagging ten goals in 27 games for RNK this season.

Spurs are hoping to bring in at least two new strikers this summer with Barcelona’s David Villa, Internacional’s Leandro Damiao and Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke high on their wanted list to replace the misfiring Emmanuel Adebayor and add back up to the injury prone Jermain Defoe.

Rebic broke through to the RNK first team in 2010 and has gone on to score 17 goals in 53 games for the Croatian side. He has represented his country at various youth levels from the under-18s to the under-21′s, who he won his first cap with last year.

Spurs are reportedly waiting to hear back from the club to see if their offer has been accepted.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to offer star man Gareth Bale a whopping new pay deal in a bid to fend off interest from elsewhere, according to the Daily Mirror.

Bale is on the fast track to becoming one of the best players in the world right now after a successful season has seen him pick up double PFA awards, bag 25 goals and catapult Spurs to the verge of Champions League football.

Real Madrd have been strongly linked with a move for the Welshman, whilst it is now believed that new Manchester United boss David Moyes will enter the race for his signature this summer.

However, Spurs are confident of keeping hold of their most prized asset by offering him a bumper new contract that will see him earn £170,000 a week.

Bale is already tied to the club until 2016, but the new deal will add a further year on and double his pay. The 23-yearold will sit down with the club’s representatives after this weekend’s final game of the season to thrash out the new terms and Bale’s management team believe the talks will be positive as the envisage few problems.

Spurs will need to beat Sunderland and hope that Arsenal slip up against lowly Newcastle United if they are to secure Champions League football next season.

On loan Watford striker Matej Vydra has put a number of Premier League clubs on high alert after admitting that he will move on should they fail to secure promotion this month, according to the London Evening Standard.

The 21-year-old who is currently on loan with Watford from Italian side Udinese has made a name for himself this season by notching 24 goals in 50 games and has attracted the attentions of a number of Premier League sides.

QPR, Spurs, Fulham and Aston Villa have all been credited with an interest at various points during the campaign will now be put on high alert as the Czech Republic international has announced that he will look to move on should they fail to overcome Crystal Palace in the Championship play off final later this month.

He has made it clear that he would strongly consider another season at Vicarage Road if they make it to the top flight, but failure will cast his future into doubt as he is behind Antonio Di Natale and Colombian forward Luis Muriel in the packing order at the Northern Italian packing order and may struggle to re-establish himself should he return.

Vydra is valued at just £5 million, but it is thought that any club wanting to sign him will have to pay significantly more than that to secure his services as his contract with Udinese runs until 2016.

Italian giants Inter Milan are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Spurs are still in with a shout on qualifying for next season’s Champions League but manager Andre Villas-Boas feels the club would be heading into the final game of the season with their future unknown had they had more firepower this season and will look to top up their goal threat this summer following the disappointing form of Emmanuel Adebayor and the injury woes of Jermain Defoe.

Spurs had been linked with a number of quality strikers recently including Christian Benteke, Leandro Damiao and Alvaro Negredo with the latter being the likely option.

AVB sees the Spanish international as the ideal foil for the creativeness of Gareth Bale and have reportedly been working on a deal to bring him to White Heart Lane, though they now face some tough competition from Italy in the shape of Inter Milan.

Inter’s sporting director Marco Branca spoke to the press lately to confirm the club’s interest in the 27-year-old.

“He is a great player and one I know very well. But now is not the time to do crazy things,” he said.

“It is one thing for us to be interested in a player and quite another for us to be able to afford his contract.”

Negredo has bagged 28 goals in 36 games this season.

However, it is Spurs who will be most concerned by this news as they have been involved in the majority of speculation and have been heavily linked with making a big money summer move for him.

The South Korean has bagged 12 goals in 30 appearances this season and the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool have also been interested but it is Spurs who remain the most keen out of the Premier League sides.

With Dortmund set to lose both Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season, manager Jurgen Klopp is now seeking replacements for his want-away stars in preparation for a fresh European and domestic challenge next term.

Dortmund have apparently already been linked with a move for 21-year-old Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen who earlier spoke of his admiration for the club and if Klopp can manage to secure the futures of the young Dane and Heung-Min then he will have frustrated two separate Premier League clubs whilst staying true to his policy of buying young and exciting talent.

Tottenham Hotspur have now jumped ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince-Boateng, according to talkSPORT.

The 26-year-old spent two unhappy years at White Hart Lane between 2007-09 but found success at Portsmouth where he picked up an FA Cup winners medal before joining Milan in 2010.

City have reportedly been keen to bring him back to England this summer after sources in Italy suggested that the Milan giants will be willing to part company with the Ghanaian international at the end of the season, despite his good form since moving to Serie A.

But it is now Spurs who are favourites to land their former charge but they will have to fork out a fee in the region of £12.5 million if they hope to put him in a white shirt again.

Boateng has just one year remaining on his current deal at the San Siro and Milan have decided to try and cash in on him now instead of attempting to tie him down with a new deal.

The player has links to both clubs, though. Having turned out for Spurs himself, his brother, Jerome, spent the 2010-11 season with City before departing for Bayern Munich.

Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest club to show an interest in young Barcelona forward Cristian Tello, according to talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old broke into Barca’s first team last year and has continued his rapid progress by featuring prominently this season, scoring eight goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Spurs are looking to add more firepower to their frontline this summer but they are not alone in monitoring the youngster.

Last year Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Valencia all made enquiries about the player but Barcelona rejected all advances in order to bring the La Masia graduate further into the first team set up.

His performances this term have been strong enough to draw a closer look from Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who is lining up potential replacements for both Gareth Bale and Emmanuel Adebayor with the pair both mooted to be on their way out of White Heart Lane.

Tello has already graduated to the Spanish under-21 national side and has picked up a single cap for the Catalan representative too.

However, Barcelona have big plans for him and aren’t thought to be willing to listen to any offers so it may take a big sum, or an intriguing part exchange deal to convince them to let him go.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has hit back at claims made earlier by Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny made about the club not being good enough to finish the season in the top four, the Daily Mirror reports.

Szczesny had said that he thought Spurs weren’t good enough to see out their challenge to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to Champions League qualification and that they ‘lacked quality’ to sustain the their output over four competitions next year.

But the Spurs boss hit back at the Polish international by questioning his credentials to even have an opinion.

“I think it would be a little more tolerable if it had come from a genuine Arsenal fan. But it is coming from an Arsenal player, an Arsenal player who is probably only passing by to another club, or he’s not going to stay there for life,” he said.

“In the end, does he means exactly those words from the heart? He doesn’t for sure. He’s entitled to say what he wants. It would be a little bit more realistic from a famous Arsenal fan to come forward with those words.”

“From an Arsenal player, I don’t think it has that kind of effect on us. I wouldn’t say an Arsenal fan that has just arrived in that club in the last couple of years is entitled to have so much hatred towards Tottenham, like he seems to have.”

Spurs will face Chelsea, Stoke and Sunderland as they continue their push to qualify for Europe’s most elite competition and their fate is still firmly in their hands.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has taunted North London rivals Spurs by saying that they’re not good enough to finish above The Gunners this season, the Daily Mail reports.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are deadlocked in a three way race to secure the two remaining Champions League places going into their fixtures this weekend after all securing 1-0 victories in their latest encounters.

Spurs’ form remains questionable, as they recovered from scraping a draw with lowly Wigan by limping to a late win over Southampton and there is one man who seems happier than most that they could miss out.

Wojciech Szczesny once claimed that he ‘hated’ Tottenham and has been talking up his own side’s projected success and putting down his rivals chances.

“I was convinced that Tottenham had drawn 0-0 against Southampton, I only found out after the game that they had won 1-0 but I don’t think it matters really,” he said.

“If we win our next two games it will be enough because either Chelsea or Spurs will drop points because they play each other.”

“If you look at Chelsea’s fixtures, they have Tottenham and Everton left and they won’t be easy games. And Tottenham do not have enough quality, so there you go…”

Villas Boas InterAndre Villas-Boas discusses his first season at White Hart Lane ahead of a crucial trip to take on former employers Chelsea

Check in to Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

We are fast approaching the end of an impressive first season for you as Tottenham manager, how have you found the experience?

Extremely good, it’s good to be back in England after last year. I’ve been very well received by everybody, particularly this group of players whose drive and ambition towards achieving results has been tremendous. This season we have competed hard in the Europa League to see how far we could go, and everything is still to play for in the Premier League.

The Europa League was a good experience, we had a change of attitude towards the competition and that has been an extremely good thing for everybody. On a personal note the season has been good for me, that’s not what matters most, though, the club is what matters most and their ambitions and desire to move forward. Hopefully we have been able to meet some of the fans’ expectations too.

How did you approach the challenge of instilling your new ideas at a club where perhaps previous philosophies had differed?

It becomes easier when the players are willing to commit to your ideas, they need to be able to take something from learning new things, and also enjoy learning new things that they can use in their game. All the players have received me well and when you receive that sort of openness you can create a good environment.

Do you feel the team has fully realised the way you want to play or are there certain things you still want to refine?

There are always things to refine. It can be difficult sometimes because the nature of the Premier League means it is driven by passion and emotion, it is a game that can be influenced more by aspects of motivation and mindset than any other league in the world; this is what makes the Premier League the product that it is. So, sometimes it can be difficult to set out your philosophy but like every other team we have had great games and bad games, and games where we should have expressed ourselves better. In the end, however, we have always been recognised as a team that has always been very driven, that wants to score and that is the Tottenham way.

At Tottenham you have ambitious owners, a squad full of quality and a fantastic training ground, how much scope for growth do you think there is at this club?

The growth is continuing and I know that the owner and chairman are very driven in achieving the club’s aim of building a new stadium. I think that this wonderful training ground allows the players to further flourish and develop their game. It also allows us to attract better players; it’s a great environment and a great example to the Premier League.

Boas Celebrate

On a personal level how do you feel you have evolved since your arrival in the Barclays Premier League with Chelsea and Tottenham?

The experiences are different and I learned a great lesson from last year. There are things I do dramatically different and things that I do exactly the same because you still have to stay true to your principles. The Chelsea experience allowed me to see things in a different way and helped me address the mistakes I made; that always allows you to develop on a personal and a professional level.

There seems to be a real cohesion about your team and they appear to really enjoy playing with each other, how have you managed to bring out those qualities?

That is mostly down to them and their ambition to reach the Champions League. They were very unfortunate last season although it meant success for Chelsea which is always good for the English game. You can see how much these players want it, though, and you can see that power on a weekly basis.

You have been competitive on a few fronts this season, as a manager how do you keep things fresh and keep the players focused?

It’s difficult but sometimes it’s what the players want. The more competitions the more chances you have to play and enjoy yourself on the pitch. It is different for every player but there are players who prefer a routine with a midweek game with all the pressure and adrenaline that comes with it, they live off that.

When we went out of the Europa League our habits changed in that we started training all week to prepare for the end of week game, it’s not a big strain for us because we’re on 51 games now and will finish with 55. That means we will have responded well to different competitions and the boys deserve praise for coping with that.

Bale West Ham

One of your key players is Gareth Bale who won the PFA Player of the Year and the Football Writers Player of the Year, how would you characterise his performances for you this season?

Great, he has been outstanding this season. He has enjoyed his performances and that is vital for any football player. Managers have to guard against limiting them through too much organisation, but that hasn’t been the case with Gareth who has played in a different position to the one he has played in before. Doing that has given him the chance to score more goals which has contributed to his wonderful season, plus he has the ambition to be at the very top.

Do you think we’ll see a definitive move for him to the centre and what is it about his qualities as a player that made you bring him in from the wing?

It was born out of an experiment in Baltimore, America when we played Liverpool in a pre-season game. Fortunately it is something that worked for us and due to a couple of injuries it was something that we had to keep trying. We fine-tuned Gareth to play there and he has been tremendous because his talent allows him to be adaptable. I’m not sure that the shift is definitive but it does give us the option of using him in different positions. At the moment, though, the goals he is getting are giving him the buzz to play there.

You signed Lewis Holtby from Shalke in January, given what we have seen from Bundesliga clubs this season do you think English clubs will be looking more towards German clubs to recruit players?

They might do, the Barclays Premier League is still the best league in the world and will attract the best players in the world including those from Germany. They know how competitive this league is and the exposure it has, the German league has great exposure too but not of the same power as the Barclays Premier League. So, we’ll continue to attract the best young players, but that should not limit the chances that our own young players have to break through and develop.

Gareth BaleBale is fans top target this summer.

Check in to Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

Real Madrid’s fans have declared that Spurs winger Gareth Bale is their primary transfer target this summer, according to talkSPORT.

In a poll carried out by Spanish newspaper Marca to discover who the Real fans wanted the club to target this summer and unsurprisingly, the Welshman came out on top.

Bale headed the list by quite some way too, topping the likes of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, Borussia Dortmund’s  Ilkay Gundogan and Bayer Leverkusen’s young centre back Daniel Carvajal.

The Spurs man won a whopping 89.1% of the votes whilst 72.4.% wanted Carajval, Gundogan came in third with 64.8% and Aguero propped the rest of them up with just 59.8%.

This comes just a few days after former Real legend Zinedine Zidane urged the 23-year-old to swap North London for the Spanish capital.

However, both Spurs and Bale have recently spoke out against rumours linking him with a move away this summer. Bale spoke of his desire to stay after collecting dual PFA player of the year and young player of the year awards last weekend.

It is known that he wants to be playing Champions League football, and there is still a danger that Spurs won’t be able to offer him that luxury next term.

Clyne Chelsea

10. Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace to Southampton undisclosed compensation fee)

Southampton beat a host of other ‘bigger’ sides to the signing of talented youngster Nathaniel Clyne and it was a wise move for both the player and the South Coast club.

The 22 year old may well have struggled to get his foot in the door at one another side but at St Mary’s he has excelled and become a crucial member of the Saints side.

Clyne has been a virtual ever present and has thrived in the Premier League having served his apprenticeship in the Championship and is now on the fringes of the full England national team set-up and is a player that cost the South-Coast club very little and could go on to be a player who either serves them well in the future of perhaps yields a good fee if the club opt to consider offers for a player who has excelled at right-back this term.

Mitija Nastasic Manchester City

9. Matija Nastasic (Fiorentina to Man City £12m)

Nastasic has been an excellent addition to the Man City defence and has in some ways erased the memory of flop Stefan Savic, who moved to Italy in part exchange, and the Serbian international has adapted swiftly to life in the Premier League.

The 20 year old has forced Joleon Lescott out of Roberto Mancini’s plans and has formed a solid pairing with Vincent Kompany at the heart of a Man City back-line that have conceded less than any Premier League side.

Nastasic has started 21 top tier matches during which time Man City have collected 11 clean sheets and has apparently won 90% of the tackles he has attempted.

Dubbed the ‘New Nemanja Vidic’ and judging by how confident and able he is at such a tender age that may not be an unrealistic comparison in a few years time.

Lukaku Goal

8. Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea to West Brom loan)

Frozen out at Stamford Bridge after an uncertain first season at the West London club the Belgian has reveled in a prolonged period in the Baggies first team. Steve Clarke has used the powerful forward well and in the early months of the season there were few more effective strikers in the English top tier.

The 20 year old has netted 14 Premier League goals despite making just 18 starts, perhaps most importantly he has outscored any of his Chelsea team-mates and has done so at a ‘lesser’ side and one wonders if this successful spell will lead to a recall to the Blues first team next term.

Lukaku will want to be playing regularly with a World Cup on the horizon and would probably jump at the chance of remaining at the Hawthorns if he was only likely to warm the Chelsea bench.

The former Anderlecht man could well be loaned out again next term if any incoming boss decides to invest big money in a big name striker signing.

Kone Reading

7. Arouna Kone (Levante to Wigan Athletic £2.5m)

Without the Ivory Coast international in their side it’s fair to say that Wigan Athletic would already be relegated, such has been his effectiveness up front for the Latics.

The former Levante man is full of running and invention and his 11 goals and five assists have been crucial to Roberto Martinez’s attempts to pull off yet another great escape.

If you factor in his push to help Wigan Athletic to the FA Cup Final then you can see just how great the £2.5m investment has proven to be.

If Wigan Athletic stay up then that outlay could well turn out to be the best investment Dave Whelan has made as owner of the Grater Manchester club.

Hazard Chelsea

6. Eden Hazard (Lille to Chelsea £32m)

Though clearly Chelsea paid a big fee for the Belgian the quality displays the young attacker has put in should not be downplayed.

In the early months of the season the pint sized performer was practically unplayable and though he did perhaps go a little off the boil Hazard is a signing that could well continue to pay off in the years to come.

The 22 year old has netted nine and assisted another nine in Premier League action alone and his stats across all competitions are fairly astounding.

Hazard has scored 13 and provided 18 assists in a lengthy Chelsea campaign that is still far from over. The former Lille man has formed an excellent understanding with Juan Mata and Oscar and is a player who excites the crowd, capable of a moment of brilliance and has more than managed to make an impact in the English top tier.

Jan Vertonghen Tottenham

5. Jan Vertonghen (Ajax to Tottenham £10m)

Hard working Belgian has barely put a foot wrong this season and has been a pivotal player in Andre Villas-Boas’s continuing push for a top four finish.

The 26 year old has excelled at the back for the White Hart Lane side, both at centre back and at left-back, but has also been very effective going forward, scoring crucial goals and pushing the play forward.

Vertonghen was a player courted by a number of other sides and Tottenham picked him up for a very decent price and has proved himself worth every penny.

Yet another Belgian talent that has prospered in the Premier League and his marshaling of the back-line has been crucial to Tottenham’s pursuit of Champions League football.

Cazorla Aston Villa

4. Santi Cazorla (Malaga to Arsenal £16.5m)

Arsene Wenger opted to raid financially stricken Malaga to pick up the Spanish playmaker and will have been very impressed by how effective the 28 year old has proven.

Very much a ‘Wenger-style’ player Cazorla is more than just comfortable on the ball he is at times almost effortless with the ball at his feet.

16 goals and ten assists is a very good return for Cazorla’s first season in English football and the tiny midfielder has adapted well to the pace of the Premier League and is always available for the ball and is not afraid to have a crack from distance, usually with spectacular results.

Has proven far more successful than fellow summer additions Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski and is as a result a virtual ever present in the Gunners starting eleven.

Van Persie Shirt

3. Robin Van Persie (Arsenal to Man United £24m)

Dutch goal machine was always going to do well at Old Trafford and he has been the big guiding force taking the Man United side to their 20th domestic title.

Though he has a poor patch late on in the campaign Van Persie has still comfortably outscored his rivals and his 25 Premier League goals will make him the top tier’s top-scorer and he has also found time to be the club’s second highest assist-maker.

Some argued that the £24m fee paid for a player of Van Persie’s years was excessive but Sir Alex Ferguson clearly felt it was a calculated risk worth taking and it’s certainly paid of.

Robin Van Persie missed out on a host of awards, which have instead gone Gareth Bale’s way, but there is no denying the impact he has made at Man United and will no doubt continue to do so for a good few seasons to come.

Michu

2. Michu (Rayo Vallecano to Swansea City £1.6m)

An inspired bit of business by the South Wales side and a deal that looks like one of the biggest bargains of Premier League era Michu has had a huge impact at the Liberty Stadium.

Having seen manager Brendan Rodgers leave for Liverpool and star pair Joe Allen and Scott Sinclar also depart there must have been a certain amount of concern as to how Swansea City would fare this term but clearly Michael Laudrup’s side have excelled this term.

Michu has been the driving force behind Swansea’s most successful season, one crowned with a Capital One Cup winner’s medal and European football next season.

The Spaniard will hope to secure his first national cap and certainly deserves international recognition following a season that has seen the talented forward score 21 goals in all competitions.

Swansea City may struggle to keep hold of Michu this summer, with sides probably willing to spend ten times the amount chairman Huw Jenkins shelled out, such has been the form he has displayed in 2012/13

Benteke Arsenal

1. Christian Benteke (Racing Genk to Aston Villa £7m)

Powerful Belgian shades Michu for the top spot in this chart because his goals and form look like being the difference between the Villa Park side staying up and being relegated from the top tier for the first time in almost 25 years.

Without Benteke there is no doubt that Paul Lambert’s side would have been relegated by now, such has been his form this term. Perhaps most crucially the big forward has hit an impressive period of form at the ideal time, netting 12 Premier League goals in 2013 and 22 goals in all competitions across the entire campaign.

Lambert has seen Benteke form an excellent partnership with fellow forwards Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann and if Aston Villa stay up, and that seems increasingly likely, he could well help the Midlands side kick on and push towards the top half.

Benteke has been directly involved in 50 per cent of his side’s 44 Premier League goals this season with 18 goals and four assists.

Chelsea Make £33m Brazilian One Of Their Major Summer Transfer Targets

Hulk ChelseaStamford Bridge side must see off challenge from Tottenham in pursuit of Zenit frontman.

Check in to Manchester United vs Chelsea

Chelsea have reportedly made Zenit St Petersburg striker Hulk one of their major summer transfer targets according to the Daily Express.

The 26 year old has struggled for form since moving to Russia and is also being pursued by Tottenham, with Andre Villas-Boas in dire need of attacking additions.

Hulk has apparently struggled to adapt to life in Russia since his £33.8m move to Zenit from Porto last September and has made it clear he would like to ply his trade in the England top tier.

“My future? I love the Premier League,” Hulk stated in March.

“The Premier League is a great competition with great clubs. If I have time, I watch the matches on television.”

One would imagine Chelsea would have the funds to outfight London rivals Tottenham in a bidding war and Blues owner Roman Abramovich apparently sees Hulk as an alternative to number one transfer target Radamel Falcao as the Stamford Bridge side look to bring in a prolific forward to spearhead their attack.

Prior to his move Zenit Hulk has been a major success in Portugal, scoring 57 goals in his last two seasons at FC Porto, and the fact that his Brazilian national team-mates Oscar, David Luiz and Ramires are already at Chelsea may be another feather in the club’s cap.

Serie A Giants To Rival Tottenham In Race for Real Madrid Wide-Man

Fabio CoentraoItalian giants target Coentrao.

Check in to Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton FC

Serie A champions elect Juventus are hoping to stump Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Real Madrid full back Fabio Coentrao, according to The Express.

The 25-year-old has been on Spurs’ radar for some time with boss Andre Villas-Boas an admirer from the pair’s time in Portugal when they were at Benfica and Porto respectively.

However, reports coming out of Italy suggest that Juventus are ready to follow through on their interest in order to get the jump on their rivals from North London. Spurs have been in the market for a new left back following the news of Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s impending departure but have yet to firm up any interest as they are also interested in Lyon’s Samuel Umtiti.

Plus any Spurs deal for the Portuguese international could be hit by Real’s insistence that he be used as a makeweight in the deal that sees Gareth Bale head to the Spanish Capital.

Juventus are also looking at new options at left back as Kwado Asamoah hasn’t fit in as well as they were hoping and the reported fee of £21 million for Coentrao is thought be suit the Italian club more than it is Spurs unless they can secure Champions League football next term.

Coetrao joined Real from Benfica in 2011 and has so far made 27 appearances for the Spaniards, scoring just once.

Costa Rica v United States - FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualifier

10. Geoff Cameron – Stoke City £1.8 million

American soccer players have certainly made an impact on English football over recent years.

What was once a haven for goalkeepers has now extended to the rest of the pitch as they have finally caught up with the rest of the world in terms of star names.

Cameron joined Stoke in the summer from MLS side Houston Dynamo for a fee of just £1.8 million and he has been one of the bright sparks in an otherwise disappointing campaign for The Potters.

A versatile player, he is capable of playing at centre back, as a defensive midfielder or as a right back, where Stoke have predominantly deployed him this term.

Mentally strong and technically adaptable, he has impressed during his maiden season making 35 appearances as he establishes himself as a regular first team starter.

Everton were also rumoured to be interested in him before the move to Stoke came about, and though it’s unlikely now, if Stoke do suffer relegation over the coming weeks then he should have no problem finding another club willing to take him on board.

Davis Man City

9. Steven Davis – Southampton, free

A name many had forgot about having spent five seasons north of the border with Rangers. He joined Southampton when he rejected the opportunity to drop down to the Scottish 3rd division with the Glasgow side this summer.

The 28-year-old made a name for himself as a youngster at Aston Villa where his quick passing and strong dribbling ability singled him out as one to watch. However, falling out of favour under Martin O’Neill he was moved on for a solitary season with Fulham where he failed to impress.

The great range of passing is still there, only now it is coupled with a mature and level head having captained Rangers and Northern Ireland on a number of occasions.

It’s been a tempestuous season for The Saints as they’ve spent the bulk of it in and around the drop zone despite chipping in with their fair share of good performances.

Davis has scored twice in 30 appearances on his return to the Premier League and has been a steadying influence in the middle of a side trying to consolidate themselves back in the top flight.

Yacob Man United

8. Claudio Yacob – West Bromwich Albion, free

The Argentine midfielder has been one of the unknown gems to flock to the Premier League this term.

Joining Albion on a free transfer Racing Club in his homeland, little was known about the 25-year-old despite him having already won international honours, but he quickly set about making a name for himself.

Slotting into Steve Clarke’s midfield, he has formed a solid partnership with Youssouf Mulumbu and is in the process of helping The Baggies to their best ever Premier League finish.

He made an immediate impact winning a man of the match award during his debut against Liverpool. As his output continued throughout the following months, he won the club’s player of the month award in March.

He has made 24 appearances for Albion so far this season with a string of niggling injuries holding him back slightly recently. However, expect him to take another step forward next term after getting acquainted with the rigours and demands of a full Premier League season.

chico flores swansea

7. José Manuel ‘Chico’ Flores – Swansea City, £2 million

One of the major reasons that Ashley Williams has won so many plaudits this term is because he has a dynamic ball playing defender next to him.

Flores has fit into the ethos of Michel Laudrup’s philosophy perfectly, acting as the ideal foil to Williams, which has been a contributing factor to the club’s success this year.

Signing from Italian side Genoa (via Real Mallorca) for just £2 million he made his debut in Swansea’s 5-0 mauling of QPR on the opening day.

Injuries and suspensions have caught up with him at times over the course of the campaign, but by and large he’s been a successful acquisition.

He’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty either. Despite being comfortable with the ball at his feet, he possesses a quick turn of pace and isn’t afraid to use his 6’2 frame when attacking or defending set pieces.

He may only have made 21 appearances so far but his influence has been clear and will likely become a staple figure in Swansea’s future plans.

Moses Leeds United

6. Victor Moses – Chelsea, £6.5 million

There was a time where Moses was seen as a bright spark for the future. As a youngster at Crystal Palace he was 2009’s Wilfred Zaha.

He surprised many by joining Wigan a year later and though he showed glimpses of what he could do he left a lot to be desired in highlighting his inabilites.

However, a steady run in a two-year spell at a club of Wigan’s size was really the best move for him as it allowed him to grow and develop into a Premier League player in a relatively low-pressured environment.

And if those who were surprised by his move to Greater Manchester they must have had an even bigger shock when he joined Chelsea last summer for a modest fee of £6.5 million.

He’s managed 38 games in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge and when he has featured in the league (19) he’s played some dazzling football, linking up well with the club’s other talented forwards.

He did miss a chunk of the season helping Nigeria to win the African Nations in January, bagging both goals in the 2-0 win over Ethiopia on their way to the final.

Sissoko Chelsea

5. Moussa Sissoko – Newcastle United, £2.2 million

The latest in a long line of French and Francophone players to join Newcastle over the last 18 months, there’s a sense that he may have joined the club at the wrong time.

Signing from Ligue 1 side Toulouse for a knock down price of just over £2 million, The Magpies beat a host of fellow English clubs to his signature.

It may be a strange choice to see him included in this list considering the club are in freefall, hovering just a place above the relegation zone on the back of a week that has seen them concede nine goals with no reply, but his individual performances have belied Newcastle’s position.

A fine debut week saw him create an assist in the 2-1 win at Aston Villa before scoring the equaliser and the winner in a 3-2 victory over Chelsea.

His brute physical strength has been coupled with an impressive array of passing and apparently, an eye for goal too.

On current form, Newcastle aren’t safe from the drop, and he took a risk joining on a six-and-a-half-year deal. There won’t be any shortage of suitors, but if the club can get their act together then they will have a tremendous player to build the midfield around next term.

Coutinho Clyne

4. Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool, £8.8 million

The Brazilian was highly sought after in January, but opted to join the Reds as his chances at Inter Milan were limited.

A renowned dribbler, the creative attacking midfielder arrived in Italy to much hype, or rather to too much hype.

With all those heavy expectations on his shoulders he wasn’t able to express himself the way he likes to, which was shown on a short and successful loan spell with Espanyol last season.

He’s already settling in well at Liverpool, contributing two goals and five assists in just ten appearances.

The 20-year-old was exactly the kind of player that Liverpool needed, an exciting young talent who is able to get fans on their feet and provide a feeding line to Luis Suarez to compensate for Stuart Downing.

Adapting well in January is always a tough task, especially for somebody so young and not used to the physical aspect of the game, but he’s slotted in exceptionally and should be expected to push on next season in Brendan Rodgers’ bid to make Liverpool a force in the Premier League once again.

Holtby Training

3. Lewis Holtby – Tottenham Hotspur, £1.5 million

It’s always a coup when one of the Bundesliga’s hottest prospects joins a Premier League side, though Holtby may only cause English fans to ask ‘what if?’

The 22-year-old was born to English parents and is exactly the kind of player that The FA are hoping to develop with the newly opened St George’s Park.

Holtby was already enjoying a strong start to the season with Schalke, scoring four goals in 26 appearances (six of which were in the Champions League.)

He has already featured 15 times for Spurs this season, and though he may not have had the immediate impact that fans were hoping for, Spurs can rest in the knowledge that they have managed to sign a player with six years of experience in a tough league and the potential to push on a be a success in England too.

Next season will be the time to judge him, but for the money they paid it’s a relatively low risk to take.

Christian Benteke

2. Christian Benteke – Aston Villa, £7.8 million

It doesn’t bear thinking about for Villa fans to think where the club would be without the 22-year-old this season.

Already, in his maiden campaign, he’s bagged 42% of Villa’s goals in a season of transition for the club.

A surprise signing from Paul Lambert, Benteke has proved that he’s not over awed on the big stage as his brute strength and quick feet have made him an instant success.

At just 22, he can still look a little raw. Villa have relied on him heavily this season and at times he can frustrate himself by trying to do too much. But one thing is certain; his finishing is lethal.

A number of clubs are already sniffing around the Belgian international, but should Villa stay up, he won’t come cheap. Villa signed him for just over £7 million and he is only eight months into a three-year deal. Whether stay up or go down, they can charge triple that after the way he’s performed this campaign

Already with 22 goals in 38 appearances he’s proved that goal scorers are out there and they are affordable if club’s decide to extend their scouting networks to places slightly more off the beaten track.

Michu Arsenal

1. Michu – Swansea City, £2.5 million

In modern football, the general rule of thumb is that if you want goals then you have to spend big. This summer Swansea not only disproved that theory but, also laughed in it’s face at the same time.

When Michael Laudrup arrived at the club he quickly identified the need for a new striker capable of fitting into his philosophy that won’t break the bank to acquire.

With the club’s limited funds he turned to Spanish side Rayo Vallecano where he was able to pick up a striker who had scored 15 goals for just £2 million.

Michu’s class was evident before he’d even joined – to score 15 goals a season for a small side in a league so badly dominated by two teams was impressive to say the least, and he’s carried on that good form for the South Wales side.

A successful season not only for him, but for the club too has seen him bag a League Cup winners medal and secure European football next season.

Beginning his career at the now fan owned Real Oviedo he spent five frustrating seasons with Celta Vigo before joining up with the Madrid based club.

He’s since spelled out his desire to stay at Swansea, suggesting that he is not only happy at the club, but keen to stay on and build on this season’s success. Something that is becoming a rarity in football these days. However, reports today suggested that the club may be willing to cash in on the forward, with two Russian clubs apparently readying £20+ bids to bring him away.

If they do let him go they will be able to charge what they like, and with the current state of the transfer market, someone will probably pay it.

Tottenham In Talks to Sign Newcastle United Winger Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa Arsenal DealWhite Hart Lane side hope to see off competition from Anfield in pursuit of St James’ Park wide-man.

Check in to Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton FC

Tottenham are reportedly in negotiations with Newcastle United over winger Hatem Ben Arfa. The North London side will challenge Liverpool for the French international according to the Daily Express.

The 26 year old former Marseille man has had a mixed time of it during his time at St James’ Park, hit with lengthy injury lay-offs and occasional bouts of poor form, laced on occasion with more than just the occasional world-class display.

Now however it seems he could be on his way out and the Magpies may be ready to listen to good offers for a player who cost Newcastle United £7m.

The French international can play on either wing but given Andre Villas-Boas has nailed on first choices in Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon it would appear that Ben Arfa would have to make a real impact to garner a regular spot in the Spurs line-up.

Ben Arfa has managed just 32 Premier League starts in three seasons at Newcastle United, scoring nine goals in the process.

The talented attacker may feel that a high profile move could help re-ignite his international career, especially with a World Cup on the horizon. Ben Arfa hasn’t won a French cap since the Euro 2012 finals.

Gareth BaleWelsh winger dismisses talk as speculation.

Check in to Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton FC

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has denied that he is on his way to Real Madrid this summer by dismissing talk surrounding his future as speculation, The Express reports.

The 23-year-old has become one of the most sought after players in the world this season  and was rewarded for his fine form last weekend by picking up both the PFA player of the year and young player of the year awards at a ceremony in London, becoming the first player to scoop both awards in the same year since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008.

“It’s a massive honour. To be voted by your peers is one of the biggest things in the game. It’s great to win it and I am delighted,” he said.

And he was quick to rubbish talk of him seeking a move away from White Heart Lane by saying: ”I just take no notice, it’s all speculation, I can’t do anything about it.”

“I just concentrate on my football and play as well as I can and do my best for the team.”

Bale has scored 29 goals in 48 appearances for Spurs and Wales this season and has frequently been mentioned on a par with messers Ronaldo and his Barcelona counterpart, Lionel Messi.

Tottenham Hope to Beat Liverpool to Sign £6.5m Championship Starlet

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas hopes to beat Liverpool in the race to sign talented young Blackpool attacker Tom Ince according to the Daily Mirror.

The North London side are ready to offer £6.5m for the England Under 21 international with White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy keen to agree a deal early in the summer transfer window.

The winger, who can play on either wing, was named in the PFA Championship team of the year after a stunning season which saw the former Liverpool man rack up 18 goals and 14 assists, despite his Tangerines side never really challenging for even a play-off spot.

Liverpool are also keen on re-signing the 21 year old but have failed in previous bids to do so. Tottenham see Ince as the man to challenge Aaron Lennon on the right wing.

Given that Blackpool have failed to bounce back into the top flight the Bloomfield Road side may be forced to consider offers for the young talent though will not sell their prized asset for any less than they deem he is worth.

Villas-Boas will be looking to strengthen his squad this summer and will look to stick to a youthful transfer policy whilst doing so. Clearly Tottenham would have even more hope of luring Ince to the club if they had a Champions League berth to dangle as a carrot in front of the starlet.

Emmanuel Adebayor Will Not Be Forced Into Tottenham Exit

Emmanuel AdebayorTogolese star remains defiant.

Check in to Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has reportedly told the club that he will not be forced out this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 29-year-old has managed to find the net just six times in 28 appearances across all competitions this season after making his switch to White Heart Lane permanent last summer and the rumour is that his days are already numbered with the club linked to a host of new strikers.

However, the club may struggle to find a suitor for the Togolese international as he refuses to budge on his 100,000 per week wage demands.

It is a similar situation that marred his departure from Manchester City in 2011.

Spurs are hoping that a foreign moneybags club from overseas will be willing to take a chance on him with clubs in Russia, China, the United Arab Emirates and the MLS all targeted.

Andre Villas-Boas is thought to have lost patience with the player as he was left out of the squad for the club’s 2-2 draw with Wigan this weekend and after personally fighting to secure a long term deal for Jermain Defoe last year, he has refused to show the same kind of spirit for Adebayor.

Spurs have been linked to a number of high profile strikers such as Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, QPR’s Loic Remy, Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo and Leandro Damiao of Internacional.
